As I write this, we are yet again on the cusp of November and the final month of Autumn. I cannot believe how quickly this year is passing! Yet life here in Abruzzo flows to the age old rhythms of the seasons. Folk here are in the throes of collecting their olives. Others have started their preparations for their veggie patch for next year. Here and there the woodsmoke has started to appear from some chimneys as the temperature starts to diminish in the evening. That said we have had 2 days of sunshine with temperatures of around 20 degrees C. The evenings are drawing in and so it is time to stock up on the sachets of the luscious Italian hot chocolate, a must for relaxing in front of the log fire after a day working outside or just pottering around the hills or local towns and olive groves or having spent an afternoon walking the dogs on the empty beach.....
